Paul Tchen

Paul Tchen was elected Chairman of the Foundation in August 2020. In this role, he chairs the Board of Directors in setting, planning and developing the Foundation’s long-term strategy and programmes.

He is currently the Director of Abbeymei Limited, a boutique consultancy firm which he founded in Hong Kong.

A career hotelier, Paul served for over 25 years in the hospitality industry, including a 25 year career with The Hongkong & Shanghai Hotels, Limited, owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels. He has held senior executive roles including Group General Manager, Operations; General Manager, Operations Planning and Support; Opening General Manager of The Peninsula Shanghai. He was also the Director of Membership Services and Operations at The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

An experienced non-executive director, Paul also serves as a Director and is a former Chair of KELY Support Group, is a co-founder of Asian Pacific Islander Empowerment Foundation in the United States and has been a Board Director of Support! since August 2019. He is also a former Chair and Board Director of the Sir Horace Kadoorie Youth Development Foundation in Hong Kong, a former Honorary Chair of Shanghai K Charitable Foundation in China and a former Chair and Board Director of Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills in the United States.

He holds BSc in Hotel Management from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona where he was named the 1999 “Distinguished Alumni” of The Collins College of Hospitality Management and was the guest speaker at the 2024 commencement ceremony. He is also the recipient of the 1996 “Young Hotelier of the World” award by the International Hotel Association and HOTELS Magazine.

 

 

Gary Liu

Gary Liu is CEO of the South China Morning Post, a global news media company that has reported on China and Asia for more than a century, and served as Hong Kong’s newspaper of record. Gary is also a board member of INMA and advisory board member of the Student of the Year Awards in Hong Kong. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2019.

Prior to joining the SCMP in January 2017, Gary was CEO of Digg, spearheading the New York startup’s transformation from aggregator to a data-driven news platform. Previously, Gary was Head of Labs at Spotify, after joining the company as Global Director of Ad Product Strategy. He has also worked at AOL and Google.

Born in the United States, Gary holds a BA in Economics from Harvard University, and grew up in Taiwan and New Zealand, before returning to the American Northeast where he lived and worked for 20 years. He currently lives in Hong Kong with his wife Katrina, a pedodontic dentist.

He joined the Board of Support! in August 2017, having been the first guest on our Leaders of Hong Kong Series, and has served as Vice Chairman since August 2020.

 

Ming-Wai Lau, GBS JP

Ming-Wai Lau, Chair Emeritus, was Chairman of the Foundation from May 2017 to August 2020, during which the organisation attained its charity registration, expanded programme offerings and events, advanced fundraising initiatives, and grew significantly.

He is Director of MWYO, a youth-oriented think-and-do tank; Chairman of the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, an independent policy think tank; and Chairman of Chinese Estates Holdings Limited.

Ming-Wai holds LLB, LLM, and PhD degrees from King’s College London and the London School of Economics, University of London. His PhD dissertation was published as a book by Oxford University Press in 2011, and was a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard Law School from 2014-2020. He is also a registered attorney in the State of New York and a CFA charterholder.

Ming-Wai is active in public affairs in Hong Kong. He is the Vice-Chairman of Youth Development Commission, Chairman of the Board of the Ocean Park Corporation, a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, a member of Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development. He was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) for meritorious public and community service in 2017.

 

 

Jacqueline Lam

Jacqueline Lam is a senior corporate executive at The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). As Head of Strategic Procurement, she leads a 150-strong team in Hong Kong and China in defining sourcing and commercial strategies across the Club’s racing, wagering, charity and membership businesses, playing a critical role in the planning and delivery of its most important capital projects and investments.

Jacqueline joined the Club to transform its Supply Chain and Procurement functions into a strategic partner that adds value to the Club's businesses. Prior to HKJC, she held senior positions at the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), including in Passenger Facilitation, the Project Secretariat, Estate Leasing and Management, Terminal Operations, Procurement and the Airport Management Division. Before AAHK, Jacqueline was a key part of the Provisional Airport Authority, where she was involved the construction of Chep Lap Kok Airport.

She holds a BSc in Surveying and Construction Management from Robert Gordon University and is a chartered surveyor. Jacqueline has been active in the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, as well as various philanthropic groups, and is a founding Director of the Foundation, since May 2017.

 

 

Ir Wai Chi-Sing, GBS JP

Ir Wai Chi-Sing is currently the Deputy Chairman & Managing Director of the Urban Renewal Authority in Hong Kong, the statutory body responsible for overseeing and managing the gentrification of the city's neighbourhoods.

C S is a career civil servant. Before being appointed to the Urban Renewal Authority in June 2016, he held the senior government post of Permanent Secretary for Development (Works). With a fruitful career of over 40 years in the civil service, C S has previously been the Director of Highways, and Deputy Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works. In addition, he is very active in public service, serving as an Advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation, and Honorary Professor of Civil Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also a former non-executive director of the MTR Corporation, Ocean Park Corporation, Hong Kong Housing Authority, and Construction Industry Council. For C S’ tenured service in government and contribution to the community, he was awarded the Golden Bauhinia Star and is a Justice of the Peace.

C S holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, and is a chartered engineer and fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, and the Hong Kong Institute of Highways and Transportation. He joined the Board of the Foundation in August 2017.

 

 

Ir Dr Derrick Pang, JP

Ir Dr Pang Yat Bond, Derrick, JP, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Asia Allied Infrastructure Holdings Limited (“AAI”, Stock Code: 00711.HK), a construction and property business that includes Chun Wo Development Holding Limited and Chun Wo Construction and Engineering Company Limited. He has previously been the Deputy Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of AAI.

Derrick is an active member of the construction industry. He is a Member of the Construction Industry Council and Aviation Development and Three-runway System Advisory Committee. He also served as a Non-Official Member on the Task Force on Land Supply from September 2017 to February 2019.

Derrick is a chartered engineer and holds a BSc Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, MEng from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MBA from Chinese University, and PhD Civil Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He joined the Board of Support! in August 2019.

 

 

Vivian Cheung

Vivian Cheung is currently the chief operating officer of Hong Kong International Airport, having been appointed Executive Director, Airport Operations at the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) in December 2019. In addition, she serves as President of the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy; and is currently a Director of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai Airport Management Company Limited and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Hong Kong Airport Management Co., Ltd. Over a three decade career with AAHK, Vivian has previously been its Deputy Director, Aviation Development and Deputy Director, Airport Operations. Prior to joining the Airport, she worked for General Electric and in Silicon Valley.

Vivian holds an MBA from Southern Illinois University and a BSc in Computer Science from The State University of New York. She is also an alumnus of Stanford University’s Executive Programme. Active in community service, Vivian is a Member of the Liaison Panel for Accreditation of Vocational and Professional Education and Training of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.

She joined the Board of Support! in August 2019.

 

Sean Lynch

Sean Lynch is currently the Head of School at Chinese International School, a position he has held since August 2018. A lifelong language learner, he is fluent in French and English, speaks German and Spanish, and is currently learning Mandarin Chinese. With a distinguished career in international education, Sean has previously served in other schools around the world, including as Head of School at the Lycée Francais de New York, and Director of the American Section at the Lycée International de Saint Germain-en-Laye in Paris. In addition, he served for ten years at the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) as a lecturer in the political sciences. Active in community service, Sean has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Green Schools Alliance in the United States, and continues to be an Advisor.


Over his career as an educator, Sean has received numerous awards, among them, the Klingenstein Fellowship (conferred by Columbia University) and the Ordre des Palmes Académiques (conferred by the French Government). He holds a BA History from Yale University, an MA Education Administration and MSc Curriculum Development from Michigan State University, and a DEA from Sciences Po.

Sean joined the Foundation’s Board in August 2019.

 

Joseph Wan

Joseph Wan is Founder of Support!, having started the Foundation as a student group in 2014. He held the position of President for four years, overseeing the growth of the organisation from a volunteer team of seven to over 150, and an impact base of forty to over 1000 per annum in his final term in 2018. Under his leadership, the Foundation grew to operate our English-through-STEAM programme at eight sites, and launched community development initiatives including our Youth Leadership Conference, Leaders of Hong Kong Series and Tidal Wave Series, in collaboration with a network of corporate and community partners. Joseph also initiated the Foundation’s first major fundraising campaign in support of strengthening and enhancing our programmes.

Since stepping down as President, Joseph has maintained a close connection to the Foundation first as an Advisor, and since August 2020 as a Director of the Board. He holds a BA in Comparative Political Theory from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and spent his first year of college at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London reading international development. Joseph is currently studying and practicing to be an architect, and is interested in the intersection between spatial and social assemblies.

 

 
 

 

Peonie Wong

Peonie Wong is currently the Foundation’s Executive Director, a position she has held since June 2017. By virtue of holding that office, Peonie is also a member of the Board of Directors. She is responsible for the administration of the Foundation’s records and finances.

Before retiring from full-time work, Peonie had a successful career in the IT sector. She has been the Acting Chief Information Officer; Senior Manager, IT Operations; and Senior Manager, IT Systems Engineering at the Airport Authority Hong Kong. Before joining AAHK, Mrs Wong was an executive at Gap International Sourcing Limited, where she held the position of Regional Director IT, managing the business’ technology infrastructure and services in the APAC region.

Peonie is proud of being one of Hong Kong’s first to be certified in machine learning. She continues to enjoy working on IT-related projects, and is involved in various philanthropic groups.
